Harley-Davidson Motor Company
PriSim developed a custom business laboratory for Harley-Davidson titled "Redline". In the Redline course, attendees lead and manage a simulated motorcycle dealership in competition with other teams. More than 1,000 Harley-Davidson corporate and dealership staff have tested and improved their business skills through the small, medium, and large-market versions of Redline. The course has been translated into seven languages, and run on four continents over the past six years.

"The Redline Business Simulation provides the staff from the Harley-Davidson dealer network with a unique opportunity to run a dealership over a two and a half day period. Department managers gain an understanding of how they fit in the total dealership operation and how their day to day decisions impact other departments and the dealership bottom line. Dealer Principals are able to use the simulation to test strategic scenarios for their business and discuss strategies for tuning up their operations and the potential short and long term impacts of selecting those strategies. An often quoted idea from the class is that we are aiming to teach the dealership leadership team "to spend more time working on the business as opposed to working in the business. This course is unlike any other that is currently offered by Harley-Davidson University. The simulation is a real action-learning experience that allows each student to fill the gaps in their knowledge in a team based environment, be it how to read financial statements, complete a business plan or understand the basic principals for managing a particular dealership function successfully. The Redline Business Simulation experience never fails to captivate and enlighten participants."
Manager of Business Operations Training, February 2003

"The Team benefited from the PriSim exercise in several ways. The hardware and software elements performed in excess of our expectations. This demonstrated that such products can make a positive contribution to a learning experience. The format enabled great interaction and group dynamics. This not only led to higher levels of student involvement, and bolstered the esprit de corps of the entire Team, but furthered their conviction that this type of approach, when professionally prepared and delivered, can work for them in their field consultations. The most beneficial outcome was the ability of the exercise to broaden the perspective and improve the financial skill base of our Team of Service Operations specialists. Their ability to gain the confidence and empathy of the dealer principals they call on has been enhanced. They will bring a more balanced, cross functional approach to problem solving during all their consultations."
Director Service Operations, November 2002

"I just wanted to let you know that "Redline" was the most intense, challenging and rewarding course that I ever participated in over the eleven years of HDU. Your preparation and presentation was fantastic! I have highly recommended it to every dealer principal that I have spoken with about HDU 2002. I hope that the Motor Co. decides to offer Redline to dealer principals and G.Ms in future management training."
Dealer Principal, February 2002

"This program was one of the best we have ever run. I have never seen participants engage themselves so completely with the material. We had to drag them away from the room at the end of the first day. All participants felt that it had increased their knowledge and ability to understand their own business and the forces acting upon it. It gave us a chance to address gaps in the participants knowledge on an individual level while at the same time having fun. This course was evaluated the highest I have ever seen by a usually highly critical audience."
Business Development Manager, January 2002

"Redline Business Simulation is a powerful and effective business enhancement tool. The time-honored recipe of lectures, group exercises & hands-on application was rendered even more savory by the dynamic presentations and the spirit of friendly competition.

We worked with real world (motorcycle dealership) challenges and received instant gratification in a powerful visual format. Did we hire more technicians to handle the increased demand for service, but pay insufficient attention to market based remuneration, training, shop facilities & admin support? Profits & CSI went down and attrition went up. Redline forced us to think holistically about the business. I would recommend this offering from PriSim without hesitation, knowing that the benefits will show up on your bottom line."
Business Development Manager, Canada Division, December 2001

Harley-Davidson Europe
PriSim assisted Harley-Davidson Europe with rolling out a new Dealership Planning tool across Europe. Redline, the Dealership Planning & Operations Simulation, was used to teach dealer principals and managers the concepts and techniques of effective business planning. The business simulation and materials were translated into 5 languages (French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and German) and classes were taught across Europe. At the conclusion of the Redline course participants were then given copies of H-D's planning tool and timelines were agreed upon for dealership plan completion.

I would like to congratulate you on the best European DOT result so far. Thanks to trainers and DDM´s who have done an outstanding job bringing the Redline Business Simulation to European dealers. I am especially pleased as this is not an one-off training event, but followed up by the Business Planning tool developed by European Dealer Development. With the practice and thoughts out of the simulation, dealers should have identified gaps in their business, and are following up utilising the planning tool to present their five year plan to HDE subsidiaries. This will lead step by step into the European composite system to be launched by the DDM team.
Training Manager Europe, March 2007

Being responsible for the network of dealers in the Benelux, our primary objective in running the Prisim REDLINE Business simulation game was to assist participants in creating focus for the financial development of their individual companies. Add insight in numbers with the already present gut feeling of the owner and you create an optimal awareness of dealership performance. Establishing the desired Mission, Objectives, Strategy and Tactics helped participants focus before jumping into at deep end. Add to this the analysis of S.W.O.T and you find the areas of priority to accompany the tasks at hand. REDLINE provided a clear, structured way of presenting the challenging subject of dealership performance, and you know what, it was fun to do as well! We look forward to the positive financial development of our dealer network and serious growth in volume as well.
Dealer Development Manager (Benelux), March 2007

The Redline business simulation game made a real difference in delivering our annual strategic dealer operations training to our dealer network in Europe. The French, Dutch , German , Swiss, Austrian, Spanish, United Kingdom, and International Direct subsidiaries made good use of the interactive and fun format provided by Prisim. We are getting very positive feedback from all dealer principals who have attended. An outstanding opportunity to share best practice and departmental expert knowledge in a fun and engaging way. Following up the momentum and positive energy of these sessions we have decided to make Redline the kick off session for rolling out our business planning approach in all European markets. Our dealers are mostly very positive and cannot wait to implement their insights and learning’s from the simulation into their business reality.
Training Manager Europe, March 2007

The major benefit on this exercise is the quick feedback you get on the strategy you've choosen at the beginning. Also very good is the mixture of practical and theoretical experience and the feedback rounds ...and always a surprise is, that the dealers forgot their reservations about their strategy towards their dealer collegues because of the "game character" of this exercise. This never has happened during a "normal" training.
Dealer Development Manager (Germany), February 2007

This Dealer Operations Training (event) has had the highest score for a training in Spain ever!
Dealer Development Manager (Spain), January 2007

"Redline helped us ascertain the level of resistance to change in our Dealer network"
H-D Europe Dealer, January 2007

" The interaction and well thought time management during the course helped people get really involved in the rounds and not lose any focus"
H-D Europe Dealer, January 2007

" People kept talking about their strategies in the breaks and spare time"
H-D Europe Dealer, January 2007

" The learning curve in the exercise allowed people to see and learn about a global view of the business"

H-D Europe Dealer, January 2007

"The International Direct Markets conducted its first Redline training for its key dealers and distributors from all around Europe, the Middle-East and Africa. The trainer, was a brilliant communicator, a knowledgeable and credible expert, and he made everybody enjoy three days of intensive training. From the sidelines I saw the working groups develop as a team, I saw differences turn into mutual understanding, and I saw the competencies of our dealer network grow. I firmly believe that the delegates are all far better positioned to plan the future of their businesses now that they understand them better."
Director of IDM Markets, November 2006

Chubb Insurance Company
PriSim developed a custom property and casualty insurance course for Chubb and has taught it over the past five years in the US and Europe. Participants lead and manage a simulated insurance conglomerate made up of an insurance carrier and an agency network. PriSim developed two versions of the exercise: a two-day version that builds general acumen; and a three-day version that focuses on leadership development and agency/carrier strategic planning.

" I feel that the simulation exercise provides the delegates with the opportunity to makes decisions and take risks in a controlled environment, which then gives them great learning that they can apply to their own business. It encourages participation and involvement and creates a real sense of competitiveness."

Rodale Press
PriSim developed a custom magazine publishing simulation for Rodale. The course is used to educate decision-makers from the Editorial, Circulation, Marketing, and other departments. Three different magazine scenarios were created so participants can experience how distinct strategies are required for different readership profiles and advertising dynamics.

"I recently participated in the MAGnate workshop in Emmaus, and have to tell you that it was by far the most useful, learning-intense workshop I've ever attended. Great information and great 'real life' simulation. This is essential for anyone wishing to understand the complete publishing business model. Congratulations on developing and bringing this to Rodale!"
Director of Marketing

"This is the most valuable course I have taken at Rodale. It kept my attention the entire time. The course was informative, presented in a pleasant format. I would like my entire team to do this."

Raytheon Company

PriSim developed a custom aerospace and defense simulation for Raytheon that incorporates the language and business dynamics of the A&D industry. Prior to developing the customized exercise, a more generic course was conducted for four years using an off-the-shelf manufacturing simulation. Ultimately, it became clear that a customized solution would be even more effective in enhancing the business and leadership acumen of Raytheon decision-makers. The customized course creates a strong tie between the learning activities from the course and participant's real-life roles and responsibilities.

Following the development of the BizFighter Business Simulation, Raytheon engaged PriSim to develop an interactive "short-course" to teach Return on Invested Capital (ROIC). The ROIC Lab developed by PriSim is rolling out across all of Raytheon. In 2006, over 1,100 participants went through the course. In 2007, almost 1,700 participants will experience the highly interactive learnings in the ROIC Lab.

A five out of five star rating -- An ideal mix of strategic business theory and practice in a fun, interesting, and dynamic learning environment.
Senior Manager, Strategic Plans, March 2007

"It was great working Prisim on the development of the ROIC Business Simulation for Raytheon. Experiencing BizFighter at Session C as a Finance Leadership Development Program (FLDP) participant really gave me the confidence that I needed to lead this project and that's what made my decision so easy when I had to choose a consultant. Prisim was easy to work with and responsive at all times. The ROIC Business Simulation is going to take Raytheon's learning to the next level."
Financial Planning and Analysis, July 2006

"The work we did with PriSim was extremely impressive and will be well-utilized throughout our company. The thing that most impressed me was the experience and knowledge that PriSim came into the project with, so that there was little time wasted bringing the project to a reality. The consultants have a great way with people, and grasp quickly what is trying to be done, and made this one of the best experiences I've had with an outside firm. I would sign up for another project with PriSim again with no hesitation and highly recommend them to others."
VP Financial Planning and Analysis, June 2006

"I thought Bizfighter was extremely well done and the most engaging professional development course that I have taken in my civilian career. Bizfighter ties it all together...business development, program capture, program management, finance, human resources, and corporate governance. The Simulation should be a requirement for every executive joining and leading the company--especially those who want to lead the company in an enlightened and integrated manner. In a matter of a few fun-filled, energizing days, it will change your perspective on how business is done and managed. Bizfighter is a must for anyone that wants to succeed and excel."
Director Mission Profiling (Mission Innovation), March 2006

"The (simulation) exercise is the perfect tool for testing your business acumen. I am using the program to create the teachable moments that we need to develop our next generation of leaders. (The instructor's) ability to see the opportunities and take full advantage of them is remarkable. He makes the process work beyond what I have experienced in any other process leader. The simulation is not only a business challenge it is an excellent tool for team building and something you don't want to quit. It's as close to the real thing as possible."

Delphi Automotive
PriSim developed a custom course for Delphi's Leadership Development curriculum and has delivered it for the past five years in the U.S., Asia, and Europe. Using an existing automotive manufacturing simulation, PriSim created a Leadership Laboratory that addresses Delphi's specific learning objectives; business acumen, strategic thinking, financial awareness, decision-making under uncertainty, and effective leadership. Participants also complete leadership profiles based upon Kouzes and Posner's research and examine their Emotional Intelligence using Daniel Goleman's EQ framework.

"The Leadership Laboratory is a unique course in the Delphi curriculum. The simulation makes it real for the participants. PRISIM's "Quikstart" video introduction reinforces that uniqueness by bringing the pre-work to life. It does a great job explaining the course and introducing the instructor."
Manager of Organization and Employee Development, May 2006

"The (instructor and facilitator) played a significant role in creating a high impact, incredibly effective development event that transcends the notion of ordinary corporate training. Upon my return to the office on Friday I coincidentally and serendipitously found myself in a "strategy session" to develop the product roll-out plan for my little corner of Delphi. That's right...in less that 24 hours I was sharing concepts of SWOT and M.O.S.T. with my team and, quite frankly, impressing them! It is uncanny how similar my real work Delphi situation is with that of the (simulated team). I shared my (simulated team) experience with them and at the very least gave them the confidence that we can still win in the market place."
Manager Brake Control Systems Engineering, E&C Division, March 2003

"Delphi is striving for a culture of Excellence where the Excellence is defined as exceeding your customers' expectation. Control in that culture comes from customer feedback and judging from other course comments, our Leadership Laboratory truly hit the mark. It is the first training program I have been involved with where participants said "It should be longer".
Manager of Organization and Employee Development, March 2003

"Thank you very much for a well run and meaningful event. I, like everyone else in the Leadership Laboratory, thoroughly enjoyed it and found it to be extremely helpful in my personal leadership development. It was gratifying to be able to create a mission, establish objectives, strategies and tactics with my team four our 'business' and to implement them successfully. I highly recommend the course to anyone who has the opportunity. Two thumbs up!"
Leadership Laboratory Participant, March 2003

"I truly enjoyed myself and I learned a great deal about myself (strengths and weaknesses) and about the power of a real TEAM. I really appreciate your willingness to listen, to support one another and to take risks."

ADP
PriSim conducts a business laboratory for ADP Dealer Services utilizing an existing, off-the-shelf simulation. At the end of the course, the Division President, Chief Financial Officer, and Vice President of Human Resources challenge participants to address ADP-specific issues utilizing their new insights from the competition. The panel of executives then critiques and mentors participants on how they can further refine their strategic thinking and analytic capabilities.

"We were very pleased with the program. Top line thoughts include: 1. The program effectively balanced use of a sound business simulation process with relevant discussions of core business principles and issues. 2. (The instructor) had a real command of the materials covered. His facilitation skills are sound and he handled the "tough" questions effectively. 3. It is the kind of program that offers value on a number of different levels, particularly when program attendees are made up of your organization's future leaders who don't commonly have the opportunity to work together."
VP Human Resources, May 2002

"(The course) was the right combination of both lecture and hands-on simulation. One of the greatest challenges ADP faces as an organization is insuring that our future leaders are skilled to handle tomorrow's business growth challenges. Your seminar stimulates many thought provoking business discussions. It provides each participant with the opportunity to discuss business options, make choices, and see the impact they have. The inner group dynamics and collaboration really accentuates real life experiences. Besides the general business rules you provide, the seminar also complements the human dynamics necessary in today's business world as it relates to a collaborative team environment. Most everyone I have talked to felt the program was very rewarding and a great learning experience. They left feeling it had taught something they can apply in a practical way today."
President Transaction Systems, April 2002

"Combination of lecture, video and simulation was terrific. Simulation provided opportunity to apply principles. Fabulous course with knowledgeable facilitator. Would recommend highly!" "

Washington Mutual
PriSim customized a mortgage-industry simulation, Cycloan, for Washington Mutual. The simulation models a working, growing loan center, and teams compete for profit and market share. Washington Mutual needed to effectively communicate the way business success at the company was measured, and the way revenues, expenses, and profitability were reported. As participants run the simulated loan center level feed into the rest of the organization, and how those decisions impact profitability.

"Cycloan provided us with a real time view of our strategies and our ability to react to ever changing market conditions. It allowed us to bring into perspective for the participants their role in managing a market by allowing them to view the business holistically on an added value basis. It is an engaging exercise with real world relevance that will improve any participants awareness to business management".

Mortgage Bankers Association of America
PriSim customized two mortgage-industry simulations, Cycloan and Deep Pockets, for the Mortgage Bankers Association and has delivered them as part of the MBAA's core curriculum for the past eight years:

  • Deep Pockets is a required course for participants to qualify for the Certified Mortgage Banker certification. Attendees run a simulated mortgage banking company, produce a detailed 5-year business plan, and present their plan and results to a "Board of Directors".
  • Cycloan models a working, growing loan center with teams competing for profit and market share. Participants focus on how branch-level decisions impact profitability at both the local and corporate levels.

"The Strategic Planning simulation module used at Course III of the School of Mortgage Banking has proven to be a tremendous learning tool for our students. It guides them through an analysis of the financial structure of a mortgage banking company, and focuses on the relationship between operating policies and profitability. At the completion of this project, all students feel that they have benefited immeasurably from the experience, and have a clearer understanding of what goes into the strategic planning process of their company."
School of Mortgage Banking

"An integral part of The School of Mortgage Banking course III is the Deep Pockets Simulation. Students have an opportunity to make leadership decisions in the mortgage industry. Deep Pockets Simulation pose real-life industry questions and situations that force the students to push themselves to achieve positive results. The facilitation provided by PriSim enhances the program and keeps students on task and in the right direction."

Travelers
PriSim created a customized property and casualty insurance simulation for Travelers. Participants lead and manage a simulated insurance carrier, and focus on the impact of differentiating service levels (e.g., claims) for target customer segments. PriSim teaches the course in the Leadership Development Program as well as to specific specialty divisions including the Construction Insurance Group.

"We used the PriSim Insurance Challenge simulation as the basis to get our folks motivated to take a more strategic approach to our business and to their local marketplace... and it works!!! Our folks came away feeling more empowered and with a better appreciation of strategic actions they can put in place to really make a difference. As for the insurance simulation, Prisim has been able to build a simulation which is easy to operate, yet confronts participants with challenges faced by today's managers -- unending market complexity, massive amounts of business information, and urgent decision time frames."

PriSim delivered a "CEO for the Day" course using an existing simulation. At Signature's Branch Manager's Conference, participants were challenged with demonstrating their understanding of business operations. In addition, they were provided an opportunity to enhance their project valuation skills as they analyzed and pursued various capital improvement initiatives.

"As our annual General Managers' Conference has come and gone, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your facilitation and training on the business simulation. We all agree, this event was a great success. Weeks later, we continue to hear positive comments regarding the simulation experience. Our management team not only increased their knowledge about running a business, but their self-confidence has increased as a result of being able to make application of the learned skills in a safe, real world simulation. Not to mention, the team approach and competitive environment motivated everyone to become engaged and involved in the learning process to truly benefit from this experience. The course evaluations indicate that the biggest "take away" for the team was the opportunity to see how one decision not only impacts the bottom line, but also how decisions affect other departments and functions of the business. We are excited to see how this training experience impacts our managers' ability to run their business units in the coming months. Thanks again for joining us and providing this valuable training program to our management team. We look forward to the opportunity to work with PriSim again in the near future."
Director of Training and Development, July 2002

"The session was a huge success for us. We had expected that the simulation
would provide some real world skills to our managers. What we didn't expect, was how much fun it would be.
Everyone had a blast while learning critical decision making skills. You did an excellent job of relating the trials of
running a (retail) dealership to the problems encountered in our FBO's. The team building was the added element
that made it so successful. I would highly recommend this session for any type of business. Maybe the best
recommendation that I could give is the simple fact that we would, and we will, use you again. Thanks so much."

The challenge involves creating and executing a detailed business-plan. In addition, each student is responsible for reading and presenting case studies and research articles. The presentations are critiqued for both content and delivery quality.

"We have all learned so much from this class and competition. We are aware and learn each of our weakness, mistakes and team dynamics in making decision. This is one of the Best class that I have ever taken throughout the course. This course gave me an overview of how tough it is to run a real company in a real business environment where we should look at each of the business component such as strategy, marketing, finance, distribution and production play and impact the bottom line and market value of the company. I wanted to take the opportunity to Thank you for teaching this course to us. I have also really enjoyed your teaching style where the environment is very motivated, full of energy and very valuable content and context for this specific course. I want to thank you for your time, feedback, techniques and guidance throughout the course. I hope to apply this great valuable experience into the real world after I graduated this quarter."

financially as well as how certain decisions can impact the bottom line. This program also helped me realize the

It totally captured my attention and focus."

(The Instructors) do an excellent job engaging participants. They know how to intervene at just the right level to keep the simulation moving without adversely impacting learning. They are able to deliver an "intense" experience and at the same time provide a fun learning environment. Our participants are still talking about the experience after several weeks and I have managers asking
me when the next time the workshop will be offered. Through the lectures and simulation,
prospective managers are able to experience being in the "Hot seat" and after the workshop have a very clear understanding of their required development to take that next step, which in our case is BU leadership. Great Program!

"By working with PriSim, NSTL realized two key benefits for our organization. First,
PriSim cultivated a true sense of participation and teamwork that carried beyond the exercises to our everyday
interaction with each other. This resulted in our staff being a more cohesive unit and translated into our clients
being more enthusiastic about working with us. The second benefit was to provide a fun, game-like setting to
discuss key business issues. The result was a sharing of ideas and perspectives that are not typically achieved in
a day-to-day setting. Ultimately, all parts of the organization now have a much better understanding and
appreciation of not only the roles they play individually, but also how their role impacts others within the
company."
