Leaders sometimes feel they need to go “to infinity and beyond” to win at the game of business (all due respect to Buzz Lightyear). But best-selling author Simon Sinek says that most leaders actually think they’re playing a “finite” game when they really are playing an “infinite” game”.
Finite games have specific players, defined rules, and clear objectives; infinite games have players that change, rules that change – and the only objective is to remain in the game. A finite player in an infinite game tries to win the day and avoid losses; the infinite player can lose the day so they can continue playing.
Sinek outlines 5 elements to succeed in an infinite game – watch the video here to learn more.
