And it turns out that people like being called by their names as much as cows do. A recent case study presented by The Mayo Clinic and moderated by PriSim at Northwestern University mentioned the tie between physicians’ choice of words, such as calling patients by their names, and patients’ increased speed and quality of recovery.

This research has direct implications in the business world. As an example, the University of Illinois found that trust, engagement, and loyalty are built more effectively through live meetings than through the “lean communication” of email and social media.
